Nutrience

Nutrience pet foods are one of the healthier options in the pet food market today. Nutrience prides itself on combining nutrition and scientific research to bring the best dog and cat food to your pet. There are several different varieties of Nutrience pet foods, specially formulated for all ages of cats and dogs and for a large selection of medical issues.

Nutrience dog food comes in dry and canned varieties. Nutrience divides its dog food into categories for the size of you specific dog. There are five different categories: miniature breed, small breed, medium breed, large breed and giant breed. Within each of these categories are selections for weight concerns, allergy concerns and Nutrience Recommended general foods. Each of these sub categories are further divided into age ranges: 0-12 months, 1-8 years, and over 8 years. Nutrience does this kind of categorizing so it is easy for the customer to find exactly the right dog food for their best friend.

Nutrience cat food is organized in a very similar way. There are three initial categories for cats based on their coats: long haired, short haired and domestic cats. Within these cat type categories are sub categories like Nutrience Recommended general cat food, hairball concerns, weight concerns and allergy concerns. Like the dog food categories, these are further divided into age ranges: 0-12 months, 1-10 years, and over 10 years.

Nutrience pet food company was founded in 1988 in the United States and Canada. Since then, they have made many changes not only to their own products but to the pet food market in general. They initiated a puppy weaning formula of dog food; they began using a sliding zipper closure on their pet food bags before any other company. In 1996 they stopped using poultry by-products. They began using probiotics in their pet food lines in 1999. In 2005, they started selling their new line of holistic pet foods.

Using higher quality proteins is what Nutrience is most proud of. Since they stopped using poultry by products, they have begun using better quality chicken meal and chicken fat to promote cat and dog health. They use corn, rice and beets to add fiber and carbohydrates to their pet foods. Some of their products use duck as a main protein source, which allows for a lower incidence of allergy problems. Nutrience also uses herbal science to discern what types of herbs and minerals need to be added to their pet foods.
